Students will partake in a discussion about the overall idea of directing, what a director does, when the director’s job begins and ends, what the preproduction/research process is like, and so much more. Students will then dive into to analyzing and staging scenes to receive guidance and feedback.
Besides working on many shows at ABT including La Cage Aux Folles, Mamma Mia!, Funny Girl, Beauty and the Beast, and Mary Poppins, Clayton's directing career has spanned decades and even includes Assistant Directing the original Broadway production's of Parade and Kiss of the Spider Woman along side legendary Broadway director, Hal Prince. He currently resides in New Hampshire where he served as the Producing Artistic Director for the Barnstormers Theatre for 5 years. Some of his more recent directing credits include The Music Man, Chicago, Cabaret, Hairspray, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, A Little Night Music, Master Harold and the Boys, and Murder for Two.
